Our history.

McConnaughey Motorsports isn't all just a recent venture. Although in our current form we only made our debut in 2022, the roots of our family in racing go back to the original McConnaughey Motorsports. Which was created by Tyson McConnaughey in the early 90s and raced in western Florida in various karting events, Skip Barber arrive and drive racing and SCCA cars. This is also where Aiden found his inspiration to go racing, as Tyson first took him to an IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio when he was 5 years old, the rest as they say is history.

After a 30 year hiatus, the Mcconnaughey family made its racing return in 2022.

In 2022, the McConnaughey family relocated from Westerville, Ohio, to Holly Ridge, North Carolina. This transition sparked the reignition of McConnaughey Motorsports. After obtaining a chassis from Three Sixteen Motorsports, the team officially made its return with Aiden in the driver's seat at New River All American Speedway on July 16th, 2022. Finishing 9th on the lead lap against skilled and well-established drivers like George Phillips, Jake Bollman and Brenton Irving.

The rest of the 2022 run would prove fruitful, with two podium finishes as the highlights, ending out the year with Rookie Of The Year Honors, and a strong foundation to move forward in 2023.

In 2023, we were ready to bring the fight.

Into High gear.

After a challenging offseason following a crash in December, we came back stronger than anyone else had expected. Winning in our first race of the season in April. And then won out in in thrilling title fight against 2023 Legends National Champion Carson Haislip at New River All American, to claim our first driver's title in our first full- time season, totaling 5 wins on the year.

Our 2024 season was go big or go home. After our track championship run in 2023, we opted to out of our comfort zone to pursue the most prestigious accolades of Legend Car racing. Our sights were set on The Cookout Summer Shootout, and the coveted National Title Itself.

After an intense campaign consisting of 43 races, we found ourselves in victory lane an additional 10 times, including an incredible first Cookout Summer Shootout win during our rookie campaign at the event. And despite a DNF at the national championship, we still walked away with a respectable 10th in points out of 437 Semi-Pro drivers that took part. All of this while still securing our second consecutive track title.

In 2025 we faced what was easily our greatest challenge to date. As we transitioned from Legend Car racing to our first season in a full-bodied stock car, joining forces with Alex Fleming Motorsports to make it all possible.

After a rocky start to the season things improved rather quickly, and by the end of our 12-race rookie run we had secured our first team victory, with another 3 podiums and an impressive 4th place finish in the 2025 Thanksgiving Classic Charger feature, to conclude a strong first season in the division.
